‘I have never collected bribe in my life.’ – Rotimi Amaechi

The much awaited #MinisterialScreening of Rotimi Amaechi took place today but not without drama.

Ameachi was in the Senate’s hallow chamber today in the company of All Progressives Congress Party chieftains such as the Party National Chairman John Odigie Oyegun, Sen. Olorunibe Mamora , Engr. Segun Oni and Dakuku Peterside among others. Many Party loyalists and supporters of Ameachi were also seen at the premises.

As speculated, Rotimi Ameachi addressed the Senate and perform excellently but some uneasiness noticed at the beginning of his presentation soon disappeared

Event that followed proved many analysts right as Sen Godswill Akpabio posited that they have petitions against the nominee, so they will not ask any question. Senate Leader Ali Ndume opposes the stance of Sen. Akpabio and the opposition. He guides the Senate as its Leader insisting that Amaechi as a former Speaker and Governor could as well simply bow and go.

However, questions were later forwarded to Amaechi after the mild arguments between PDP  and APC Senators. The APC Senators taunted  PDP Senators with tempting and alleging questions. Such questions includes Sen. Alasoadura’s on the controversial election of Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

‘Nigerian politicians believe there is need for compromise but not when it clashes with my principles’ Rotimi Amaechi said.
He further stated that if he become Minister for Niger Delta, the East – West Road will be first to be completed’.

The highest point for the screening was when Sen. Gbenga Ashafa asked Amaechi to clear his name and show that he has a clean slate. Ameachi insisted repeatedly that ‘I have never collected bribe in my life.’ He went further to state that  ‘Corruption is difficult to define.’
